The City Council of the Island Garden of Samal approved in third and final reading the joint committee report interposing no objection to the City Hall’s plan to carve out a ten-hectare reclamation area in Penaplata district of the city.
City Councilor and PCL provincial representative Dan Gervacio moved for approval the joint report of the committees of housing, land use, public works and infrastructure. It was unanimously seconded and approved by the plenary.
At the same time, the City Council approved the report’s endorsed draft resolution authorizing Mayor Al David Uy to file a reclamation project to the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) in behalf of the city government.
Two reclamation projects, one in Penaplata and the other in Babak, have been pushed by Mayor Uy as part in his executive priorities.
Councilor Gervacio said in an interview that after the Penaplata reclamation the Babak reclamation will follow to be given legislative backing by the City Council. (mindanaosunchronicle.com/Cha Monforte)
